Why Cut Copy Live Performances Aren't Bullshit
I'm going to be completely truthful and up front with everything that I post on here, I'm not sugar coating anything nor am I being paid by any band/label or corporation to forward positive information. Sometimes this may be too positive, I know some of you (not gonna name any names) like drama and negativity in your lives to keep yourselves occupied with your boring existence. What I write is what I feel! (Who cares it's all for kicks and giggles, am I ryte?)
With that being said, I woke up in the morning with one band on my mind Cut Copy. I had missed them earlier in the year due to age issues and wasn't going to miss them again. I woke up, met up with my friend and got plenty of alcohol. We began to drink as we drove down 101 to the venue listening to mdmAmazting electro music. We got to the venue around 4:30, we were pretty drunk and I don't really remember the time, but hey isn't that how life should be? M83 was pretty good, but honestly would have been better at a club or in a smaller venue in the dark. The crowd was pretty dead and killing our buzz so we wondered off. (Don't get me wrong, I love M83 and have for like five years) Our buzz was wearing off so we met up with Matthew, he gave us his extra E pill because yes sometimes he can be a nice guy. (Other times he isn't but that's for a different blog as this blog is about the good things in life)
The timing was perfect Cut Copy took to the stage just as the pill had reached it's climax, we were ready for a show!
They opened with Far Away, and then proceeded to go into my favorite track on In Ghost Colours, Out There On Thin Ice. It was magnificent. They sounded superb and the crowd was loving it. Cut Copy definitely got the biggest reaction when compared with every other band that had played prior to them. People were going nuts for them and they deserved it as they were giving a grand show.
Now some of you may whine about their lack of live instruments, and that's fine, but until you write a song half as good as Hearts on Fire and find a decent way to perform it live with a 4 piece you can shut the hell up because no one is listening. You're grievances show your lack of respect for true art, art that does not have one specific manner in which to be replicated. You lack the courtesy to let others display their ideas upon your narrow minded outlook. You can look at life inside this constricting box, that is fine by me, but you will not have as much fun and will never reach true happiness if you do.
Cut Copy are probably one of the biggest Electro-Pop bands active today and for a good reason. They put on a captivating live show which was clearly shown at last weeks Download Festival. If you don't believe me take a look at this footage from their live show. Listen to the music and watch how wild the crowd is. It is apparent that Cut Copy are masters at their art form.
Why Everything Isn't Bullshit
So I just got home from another party and I'm pretty fucked up. I started to read a few blogs before I go out and enjoy life again tonight with my best friends, people who I enjoy being around, and I began to think to myself, "Why is all of this stuff on the Internet? Who makes all of these pages. Wow, thanks for writing about that really tasty pizza place right by the fabulous Dolores Park I read about on your blog that appeals to me and my fellow 18-25ers who live in SF and not the shitty east bay. I'm so thankful you posted that Cut Copy remix, now we'll have something to listen to while driving to the Bloc Party tonight!!!" :) Then I came across this really negative blog whose author wishes he could capture even half the attention The Hipster Runoff's or Clander gets. He brought me down, and was on the verge of ruining my entire night with his false claims of knowing Bryan, yeah, he knows Bryan, from Daly City, yeah he's hung out with him all the time. Well I just want to show you that everything isn't bullshit like this faux-Bryan knowing blogger claims it is. Starting now.
